Domain Name Registration and Hosting

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) was formed in 1998. It is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable. It promotes competition and develops policy on the Internet’s unique identifiers (domain names).

As a domain reseller, we are bound by obligations under the 2009 Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) between ICANN and its accredited registrars. Recently, ICANN finalized and published "Registrants Rights and Responsibilities." so that registrants understand their rights and responsibilities when it comes to their domain names.

A domain name allows your company to personalize e-mail and your web site. It is an important part of your image and should be treated with as much attention as when selecting your company name. In fact, many new companies now select the domain name and the company name together. Since more and more companies are now using the Internet as a major part of their business, it is important to reserve your domain name as soon as possible before someone else does.

There are three things that must be done in order to use a domain name on the Internet.

You must search and find a name that is not already taken. Use whois to find available domains.
You must register your domain name and pay renewal fees in order to keep it registered. We recommend registering your domain with OpenSRS/Tucows through Rock River Internet.
You must select a competent and trustworthy ISP to host your domain name and become the authority for it. If your domain is not hosted or if your host's servers or connections break down, your email and web site will stop working. Why use anyone else? References are available upon request.
